Update: I am still drinking tap water. And ice. And raw food. The closest I've come to typhoid is getting an immunization for it in a Walgreens off of Lee Highway in VA.

In other words, I'm still wrapping up business on K street, or at least around K street. I won't go into too much into detail, except to say thank all those who have responded to my multi-paragraph emails demanding an opinion on what to pack, where to travel, what to wear to go running (correct answer: baggy, unflattering track pants; got mine today), and, perhaps most importantly, what to read while in India.

I think I was a bit too ambitious about the last part. I went on a used-books shopping spree on Amazon a couple of weeks ago and, gulp, I can't remember what The Temple Dancer is about. Full disclosure, the spree was initiated pre-opinion demanding so I am the only one to blame if they end of being one-trick ponies. The one trick being tricking me into buying them.

At the time I got the stack, I felt good about not judging each title by its cover. Instead, I opted for page count. I'm pretty sure this was the only reason I got A Suitable Boy. It does have good reviews though.

With six classes, a part-time internship, and travel plans I can make it work right?

  2. I'm glad you have "A Fine Balance". Also (if you have time-despite the fact that we leave in approximately 48 hours) I'd suggest the movie "Fire" by Deepa Mehta. Phenomenal combination of Vedic stories and culture.

By the way-I'm Katie and I can't wait to meet you. We're in the same girls hostel!
